CHIMNEY INSTALLATION
Most chimney installation work in North Jersey means rebuilding or upgrading an existing chimney. These are the main parts we install.

When bricks are loose or the stack leans, we take the chimney down to sound masonry, rebuild it with new brick and mortar, then reflash it into the roof.

A liner protects the masonry and nearby framing from heat and flue gases. We install liners sized for the fireplace, stove or heating appliance the chimney serves.

A sloped crown sheds water off the top, a cap keeps out rain and animals, and new flashing seals the joint where the chimney passes through the roof.

WHEN TO REBUILD OR RELINE
Patching only goes so far. These signs usually mean part of the chimney needs to be rebuilt or relined.
A stack that tilts, or bricks near the top that move by hand, is unsafe and needs rebuilding rather than repointing.
Pieces of clay tile falling into the fireplace mean the liner is cracked, letting heat and gases reach the brick.
A new furnace, boiler or wood stove often needs a different-sized liner. Venting into the old flue may not be safe.

CHIMNEY INSTALLATION FAQS
It depends on how much of the chimney is rebuilt, its height above the roof, matching the existing brick, the type and length of liner and how easy the roof is to reach. We inspect first and give you a free written estimate.
If the bricks are loose, the stack leans or the mortar has failed deep into the joints, repairs won’t hold. Rebuilding from the point of sound masonry is usually the safer fix. We’ll show you what we see before recommending it.
Most chimneys that vent a fireplace, stove or furnace need a sound liner. It contains heat and flue gases and protects the brick and nearby framing. Older chimneys with cracked clay tiles, or with no liner at all, often need relining.
It depends on what the chimney serves. Stainless steel liners suit most wood stoves and gas or oil appliances, as long as the size matches the appliance. We confirm what your fireplace or heating system needs before recommending one.
We look for brick that matches the color, size and texture of your chimney as closely as possible. Older brick can be hard to match exactly, so we show you the options before any rebuilding starts.
Usually, yes. Gas appliances produce cooler, wetter exhaust than oil, which can damage an unlined or oversized flue. A liner sized for the new appliance is often required. Your heating installer and local inspector will confirm.
For most homes, yes. A cap keeps rain, leaves, birds and animals out of the flue and helps stop sparks from escaping. It is a small addition that protects the liner and the masonry below it.
Yes. Because we’re roofers as well as chimney contractors, we install new step and counter flashing where the rebuilt chimney meets the roof. That joint is one of the most common places for a roof to leak.
