HOW WE INSTALL

It starts below the roofing

On older homes the work begins under the shingles. We prepare the deck, then install a complete system on top of it.

  • New rafters and roof sheathing

    New sheathing over planks

Many older homes have plank boards with gaps between them. Where needed, we install new plywood sheathing over or in place of them for a solid nailing base.

  • New roof decking going down on a brick home

    Standing-seam metal

Long panels with raised seams suit farmhouses, porches and outbuildings. We install them over underlayment, with flashing at chimneys, walls and valleys.

  • Cape Cod house with a new shingle roof

    Architectural shingles

GAF architectural shingles with starter strips, ice and water barrier at eaves and valleys, ridge venting and new flashing throughout, installed as one system.

PLANNING YOUR ROOF

Things to settle before installation.

A few decisions up front make the installation go smoothly. We help you work through each of these.

  • Metal or shingles?

Consider the look, your budget, snow and how long you plan to stay. We price both so the comparison is clear.

  • Matching an addition

A new addition’s roof should suit the house in pitch, material and color. We’ll show you the closest options.

  • Getting materials in

Long or soft driveways affect deliveries. We plan where materials and the dumpster go before work starts.

ROOF INSTALLATION FAQS

Questions? Start here.

We inspect the structure, prepare or replace the deck, then install underlayment, ice and water barrier, flashing, ventilation and the roofing itself. Your written estimate lists each step so nothing is left unclear.

Shingles need a solid, even base. If the planks have gaps or are damaged, we install new plywood sheathing first. We check the boards during the inspection and include any sheathing work in your estimate.

Yes. Standing-seam metal is a good fit for detached garages and outbuildings, and the house can be done in matching or complementary colors. We’ll look at the structure and price it separately.

It depends on roof size and pitch, metal or shingles, whether new sheathing is needed and details like chimneys and dormers. We inspect for free and give you a written estimate before anything is scheduled.

Not for most of the work, as long as we have access and can reach you by phone. We’ll walk the finished roof with you or send photos, and go over the clean-up before we leave.

Standing-seam metal comes in many colors, from traditional reds, greens and dark bronze to grays and black. We’ll bring color samples so you can see them against your house before you decide.

We protect the lawn, plantings and walls, set up the dumpster, tear off the old roof and prepare the deck. Then the new roof goes on section by section, and we clean up nails and debris before we leave.

Yes. A third-party lender provides financing, subject to credit approval. It can make a metal roof or a full re-deck more manageable. Ask about it when we go over your written estimate.
